Social media is a powerful marketing tool with instant reach that businesses have never before experienced in the history of advertising. In our last newsletter, we explored the role that social media plays in SEO strategy. However, the influence of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+ extends far beyond the impact it has on your search returns. In fact, social media can profoundly affect your company’s online reputation in good ways – or bad ones.

Social networking has grown beyond helping old friends stay in touch to closing the gap between customers and the companies with whom they do business. Social media helps companies reach out to customers and communicate with them on a more personal level. Additionally, more people now look online before purchasing, with a whopping 92% trusting reviews of a business from other consumers. Today, there’s no better place for consumers to find honest reviews of companies than on social media.

In Memory of Our Home Care Colleague Suzanne McNeely

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Suzanne McNeely. On May 16, 2015, Suzanne lost her courageous battle with cancer. Suzanne founded Senior Planning Services in 1989, as a geriatric care management agency, because she had a vision and saw a great need for a service that supported the interests of the senior population. A social worker by background, Suzanne received her Masters Degree in Social Work from St. Louis University.

Suzanne was passionate about her elder care work and earned many certifications, including Certified Geriatric Care Manager, California Licensed Professional Fiduciary and National Certified Guardian. In addition, Suzanne won many awards, including the Spirit of Business Award for Best Woman Owned Company in 2009, Champion of Health Care Award in 2012, Community Business of the Year in 2012 and the Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award in 2014. Suzanne also served on several boards, including the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the Friendship Center, and she was an active member of the National Association of Women Business Owners.

Through Suzanne’s positive energy, compassion, and brilliant sense of humor, she touched many people’s lives. Although her light has gone out in this world, her legacy will be forever remembered by the many whose lives she made a little bit brighter.
